About Us
PAWS Feline Rescue is committed to rescuing kittens and cats from euthanasia with the mission of adopting each pet into a loving, permanent home. Currently York County Animal Control reports that PAWS is the only organized group saving kittens and cats from euthanasia. While 95% felines are "put down", PAWS currently saves 4% with the remaining 1% either adopted or reclaimed by the public.
Our shelter is unique in that none of the felines are housed in cages and are free to roam, interact, and play with each other.
PAWS Feline Rescue was founded in Sept 2009 by Kathy and Miranda Hebert, and nearly 100 felines found permanent homes in just 4 months! Board Members developed by-laws and began the filing process for a non-profit status with the IRS. A graphic artist volunteered his time and talent to develop the logo for PAWS Feline Rescue, and in April 2010 a new website was launched! A new shelter building was built early in 2010 in order to care for the cats and kittens, and in April 2010 an outdoor enclosure was added as a means of
giving the cats more freedom.
